Hey all,

In December of '93, I got myself a 2004 Mustang. I love the car, as I did when I had an '85 Mustang back in the day. I have a question though, and I am sure it is a silly one.

I noticed that on my car, the hood has an indentation that faces me. Most other new Mustangs I see, the hood has the hood that lets air in, and has the air thing(?). It is like my hood is reversed of all other hoods. Just wondering if my kind of hood was meant for my kind of car (not a GT).

Man, did I butcher that question? Does anyone understand? Any knowledge would be appreciated.

Its amazing you managed to purchase an 04` in 93........ Well the thingy is called a cowl w/ hood scoop.... Do you have any pictures..... I mean i think I know what your talking about but not sure.... Kinda a confusing the way you expalined it

 

whoops, I meant I got it in 2003. Its like the air intake on most mustangs reversed, so that instead of sticking out, it is indented, and instead of facing the road, it is facing me.

The only hood the intakes air are 03-04 Cobra's (I think) & Mach 1's.

You are referring to the hood scoop. It will be narrow near the bumper and widen the closer it gets to your windshield. Why not take it to a local dealership and compare it to the other cars?

 

I have a friend with an intake like that. Ford just has different types of air intake styles.

Yes, that is the new hood that comes on 6 bangers, unless you get the premium package and get the GT hood scoop.

 

That style of hood is on the 6 cyl models. Even on the GT models (with the hood scoop facing forward) it's just for appearence and is not functional for any type of air intake.
