Default Hood Scoop Wanted !!!!

I have a black 2000 v6 vert and it just looks a little to plain for me.
I really want a nice scoop on the hood but I do not want one of those UGLY ones that are so big you can't see over. I would like one that looks likr the cobras.

Can you buy just this or should I just buy a whole new hood seeing that mine has some tiny chips in it and I am going to repaint the hood?
If you can how are they mounted on.?

My brother just purchased a scoop for his truck that just more or less stuck on and I am almost sure that sucker is not going to last very long !!!!

Yes, you can buy just the scoop, The right way to do it though is to have a bodyshop mold it on with fibrglass or something and then have it painted etc.

I've been looking into the whole hood scoop/new hood thing...

1. just the scoop will cost ~ $200-$250 for parts and paint... and that's if you're putting it on yourself... which isn't too hard... you just have to get a template for your hood for the screw holes... I believe I've seen them around the stang sites... but don't get one offa ebay... they are incorrect.

2. a new hood will cost you ~ $150-$1000 depending on what you get... plus paint... labor and materials for a good paint job is high... thats about all I need to say on that

Therefore... its all in your budget...

Me? I'm waiting for something to happen to my hood accidently and then I'll have a body shop put a new double step cowl or a cobra hood on there painted and everything for only the $250 deductible...

EDIT: forgot one option... if you have access to a paint booth and have a friend that can paint or you can... that will drive the cost down a lot... but still... get PPG... (as recommended by those who have painted their cars and from what I've seen come out of MAACO)

PPG, duPONT, its all good paint, its all in the prep work in my opinion. i'd go for the hood, you can get a good Cervini for 500 bucks, bolt it on and go

I'm a little confused, you say that you want a new hood scoop and then you say you want a Cobra hood? Like the Cowl hood?

yea, I like the new ones too, they're different. If you've got someone who knows bodywork see if you can find a used scoop and have them mold it onto your hood the paint it.
