Default Candle Wax Disaster

I need some serious help. I'll make a long story short and just say that a scented candle was left in my back seat on its side in 91 degree heat today. The wax melted and oozed all over the seat. Besides the fact that the car smells like a 2 cent *****, there is wax embedded in the seat. Any ideas hoe to get the wax out? Is a new/reupholstered seat in my future? I tried extracting it with the our bissel steam cleaner but it's still there. It's a 2006 Gt with cloth seats.

Thanks!

You'll need a brush, like a nylon one. Any wire brush will destroy those flat cloth seats, and an alcohol based cleaner. Paint thinner, or rubbing alcohol.

May sound like an old wives tail but it works on carpet. Iron over a brown paper bag will melt most of the wax onto the bag.

May an old wise tale but the iron and paper bag works I've done it before on my chevy truck, however fold the bag over to ensure you done burn or discolor the fabric.

Long story short huh? So were you getting it on in the backseat with a lit, sented candle [8D]

I wish it were that exciting of a story. Lets just say the candle was placed there by my loving wife...and yes, we're still married.

Update: The brown paper bag/iron trick is slowly removing the wax. I don't know if this seat will ever be as good as new but I'm going to try. Just in case, is anybody selling an 06 GT back seat in graphite cloth?

This is a slow, no make that painfully slow method to get the wax off. Wax on ..... Wax off. Once you get to the point that the iron does no more you may have to go to an upholstery professional to get the rest off if upholstery cleaner does no good.

Good luck,

Could of been worse your seats could be leather>

Yep, I concur with the towel...Use a iron on low heat and a towle or kitchen roll paper towel and it will come off. Keep replacing the towel when it is getting clogged though.

All the best.

I tried the paper towel but it's difficult to see when it's saturated. There's no question with the brown paper. I haven't tried a cloth towel yet. I'm hoping a combination of all of your suggestions and a little luck will have my seat as good as new. Thanks for the tips!
