Default Painting vent inserts

I dont really like look of the plastic inserts in the "vents" behind the door and the one on the hood. I would like to paint them black so they clean easier and look a bit sharper. Has anyone done this? What is involved in prep/painting? Will I be alble to take out the inserts without breaking them?

Thanks

I was thinkin about doing this too, they just clip on so I dont think they will break that easily all you need to do is clean them really well do a couple coats of primer an then paint them....

Hrm, If you feel adventurous and get to it before me, consider taking some pics of the process.
