Chrome or Polished
I think im gonna get polished Bullits DD in the back, anyone reccomend a brand of tire and what size?? I kinda want fatter wheels in the back i like the look of the fat wheels in the back.
You have to balance the look you like with maintenance. I think the look of something like a polished billet wheel (like a Foose wheel) is really hard to beat if you ask me.
If you get polished wheels from a big maker, keep in mind that some of the wheels are clearcoated (most all factory wheels are), so if polishing metal is something you don't want to do, look for a clearcoated/painted wheel.
So if you do get bare metal, polishing isn't too bad so long as you use a quality polish periodically -- it's when you neglect a finish that it really causes you headaches and expense. Products like Mothers Billet Polish (and even their other metal polishes) leave a protective coating. And you can fix road rash on a bare wheel much easier... Mothers has this new PowerBall MD thing that will help remove deeper scratches (better than the regular ball), and I'm anxious to try it out.
With any wheel, wash often with regular car wash and a mitt just for that purpose, and only use an appropriate spray-on, hose-off cleaner when you have to (I like to spray directly on my mitt -- helps to avoid the calipers and rotors). I usually do my tires, wheels and wheel wells with their own bucket of strong car wash, before doing the rest of the car.... that way they get rinsed an extra time while I'm washing the car.
If you get coated wheels, use a spray wax or at least a detalier as often as you can to help protect them.
Chrome's pretty easy to take care of... use a chrome polish once in a while and an appropriate spray-on, hose-off cleaner. But yes, if you get a scratch and it really bothers you, it's a tad pricey to replace/repair.

i have polished wheels
they are easy to take care of if you clean them regularly, but i took my car to a car wash yesterday and it stripped my wheels of their finish
let me tell you what a bit*h that was polishing them for 4 hours today
