clear coat????
hey guys, i own a 2006 gt redfire. unfortunately, it has a lot of swirls. it is a 6 month old car and it has some swirls on the clear cot. i used some meguiars paint cleaner and polish (from the deep crystal system) applied by hand and i could only remove a very small amount of them. i rubbed the produvts in pretty hard and using those meguiars apllicators. then buffed residue with microfiber towels. i ended up pretty tired so i'm wondering if there is a way of getting this swirls out with just adding a new coat of clear coat??
does anybody know if this would work??
thanks a lot!!!

Red and black are definitely two of the hardest colors to care for with swirl marks and all. I guess a new clear coat would work but it would get pretty expensive. ScratchX is a pretty good product to use. A bit of advice though, don't rub hard and don't use a lot of pressure when you wash, dry, apply, or remove any product on your car. This is definitely an invitation for swirl marks since you are forcing any particles trapped in your towels or applicators against the paint surface resulting in swirls. I learned that the hard way. Another place to look is Zaino. Check them out at www.zainostore.com. They make a really good line of polishes that conceal swirl marks and protect your paint. I think they also just came out with a swirl remover. I havent used it yet so I don't know how it works, but it is not something that you are supposed to use often since it contains some mild abrasives. You could also do a search on this forum for proper washing and drying techniques. It'll tell you all about the right kind of towels, wash mitts, buckets, etc. to use to keep swirl marks away from your paint. Hpoe this helps and good luck!
Use a decent RANDOM orbital buffer with the right pad on it. (foam) and an oribital SAFE polish. Let the buffer do the work (don't push on it) and don't hold it in one place, rather keep it moving. It will probably take a few passes but should eventualy work out.
Make sure it's a random orbital buffer, a regular orbital buffer will just cause more swirl marks. Or take it to a detail shop and let them know what your expectations are. They'll let you know how hard it is.

the Porter Cable buffer is the best one to use. Hand waxing can only go so far. I would recomend getting the buffer because is it random orbital and the results are amazing. the kit comes with the different grade compounds and polishes, also, the buffer has different levels of aggressiveness.
