Default Warped bumper cover

I am in the process of doing all the body work on my 1989 LX vert. I am doing everything, and then painting it in flat black primer.

The center of my rear bumper cover is warped, from age probably. I was thinking of getting a nice stiff piece of plastic maybe a foot long and epoxy it to the inside of the bumper. Hopefully that would take the warp out of it. I need to know what the best way of removing it would be. I'm trying to do this as cheap as I can with quality stuff. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

How much room do you have between the cover and where it mounts to the bumper. Would it be possible to mount something behind it to keep it on an even plane?

Thats a good possibility. I could get some scrap steel and weld it to the inner bumper. Then that would asure that the cover is flat. Good idea. Thanks.

Is there something behind there to weld to?

Don't mind the rust or the ugly luggage rack, it's being fixed.

Not right off hand. I though you may be able to maybe JB weld a piece of hard plastic to the rear of the bumper cover, about 24 inches long, that would pull the length of the bow all down to the same plane. Just a thought. I have to do something with my front cover, it is warped from the intercooler that was mounted behind it.

I don't know what JB weld is...

I might end up getting another bumper cover used or something. I don't want to drop money on a bumper though.
