Hey. I just turned 16 on July 31st. and i bought a 1987 Mustang Gt Convertable. im redoing it. its a crappy red. it had a cobra spoiler and a fiber glass hood with a 4in scoop. i'm wanting to paint it yellow (dont know what kind) and painting the scoop and spoiler black. What im asking is. what colors should i use. whats the best yellow for a mustang. and the best black? can you give me suggestions and some links to some sites with the pain please. thanks. il put some picks.

canary yellow that appeared on the 93' Limited LX's would be sweet..such a pretty hue. One thing to note, you will HAVE to take your car all the way down to the primer coat or bare metal...only thing that will keep the red from bleeding through is black primer coat, and black would turn your yellow into more of a burnt umber unless you plan on 5 coats of color.

 

Dude, what are you talking about??? Have you ever painted a car before? I think not. Bleeding through??? down to the metal??? No...No... Listen up... In order to get your car yellow or what ever color you want it..pink for all I care, You have to sand down through the clear and into the paint. Now the paint does not have to be all off!!!! You just need a clean mating surface for the new primer to adgere to and it can't be the clear coat. Then you paint over that. Easy as pie!!!! Obviously you are going to have someone else paint your car since you have no idea on what kind of paint to use, so lets leave the body work to the professionals shall we! Now on the spoiler being black, I think you should do the Boss type scheme down the sides of your car if your having the whole car painted. When I say down the side, I mean directly off the spoiler right down to the ground. If you paint just your spoiler black it will look like something you pulled from the junkyard and stuck it on your car without painting. I hate that look. As for what color yellow...... I'm not a Red nor a Yellow fan! That's up to you. I would paint it orange and Black. That would look sick!
