Default Need help removing track tar

New to the group and I'm in need of some help. I took our new white 07 GT/CS out on a road course and now the car has all kinds of track tar on it. I tried using some "Tarminator" from Stonier to remove it. This worked great on the sheet metal, but when I tried it on the plastic parts it left a bright yellow stain. I don't know if the stain is actually the color of the plastic with the white paint removed or a stain from the tar. I only did a small area on one of the fender lips and was afraid to go any further. There's still tons more tar to get off and it's all on the plastic body work.[>:]

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try WD-40, that works pretty good and it has had no ill effects on my fiber parts. Just wash with soap an water when you finished.

You might try another bug & tar remover product, or something available from your hardware store like gum turpentine or mineral spirits -- or even my favorite, Goo Gone. As you learned, test in an inconspicuous place first.

Oh, and soak it a little bit... patience is a virtue.

Likely some polishing will bring back the discolored finish -- I hope.

Good luck!
