newbee ?'s about 86 gt
has anyone successfully fit a 87 gt front end on an 86?
Have any other hints for the 86. I am having a hard time finding exterior stuff.
All webs usally are early stangs or the 87 and up crowd. What's up with the 86?
I am restoring my 86, I thought I wanted to keep it original but after seeing what some people have done to them I think I might customize it.
Anything will help me out on any subject regard this car, since I am new to the mustang world.
I have a 1986 GT 5.0 hatchback , canyon red / gray two tone , interior is tow tone grey with red accent.
engine is stock except for intake.
Much appreciated!!!!

man..you are sooooo lucky you asked this in here and not the 5.0 secton...because there would have been alot of people to tell you not to swap the nose over...and i would probably be one of them most likely..so my vote is to leave the 86 nose on it.. they are rare.. and if you look hard enough you can find some good stuff for it. what kind of exterior stuff are you looking for?
+1 Leave it alone
If you need a new nose you can get one from www.50resto.com The parts are not as rare as you think.
BTW - nice color combo! My '85 GT Vert is the same thing

Yes the 16" Pony's are not correct. I am in the process of refurbing the correct 10 Holes (see my post ALUMINUM FINISH QUESTION)

+1 on leaving the stock front, the 85/86 GT's IMO, are probably the best lookin foxs, (especially with headlight covers). You can use parts off of an 85 or 85, theyre all the same. Only difference is the 3rd brake light in the spoiler. Also, when you order the front cover MAKE SURE its for GT as teh other ones wont have cut outs for the foglights.

so do you all think that it was a bad idea to ..well i didnt change it i took my front bumper cut it in half and cut the 87 GT bumper in half the lower part and joined them together and i got the whole bodykit but i kept the stock 86 spoiler cause i like it more than the others and i got the 87 tailights i think it looks good but are the 86 foxs hard to find anymore? mines a gt also...i just wanted mine to stick out make it the way i wanted it but if there that hard to find imma change it back
Wow man I have no idea what you just said. Extreme run on sentences are very hard to read. But from the sound of it I think it was bad idea [&:]. Parts for these cars are not that hard to find really. Between Late Model Restorations, a few other companies out there like them, and of course Ebay you can pretty much get what you need.
