Nostang - I'm currently using 4cyl spring with my 5.0 but I planned on putting the 5.0 springs on eventually. Possibly even upgrade from those. I have a book i just bought on 385 series engines and I've been reading it. I haven't noticed yet though if there is any certain block that it is beter to start with. Are all 460 blocks the same or are there any ones that have advantages over others? Also is there any year from which I should try to get heads or are the heads pretty much the same on all? </P>


WhiteHawk - Ok cool. I am having him paint it as soon as I can ge the money and I'll just have him fix them. He said he could easily do it , but I guess i was just alittle nervous because they look like hell .</P>

Except for some really rare 4 bolt blocks,they are all the same,429 blocks are the same also,they just have a shorter stroke.You may be able to find a pair of DOVE-C casting heads,they used to be pretty good until the aluminum heads came out,you may also be able to find some Cobra Jet heads that somebody took off to replace with aluminum heads.All the later heads up to 1987 will work but you have to have them machined if you want to put in screw in rocker studs.1988 and up fuel injection heads work really well but it takes quite a bit of modification to get the intake and exhaust to match up properly.I think I may have a set of prepped rods and standard bore TRW domed pistons available,I'll have to look.I may have a set of ported heads to go with the pistons too.I'll have to look around.Well,gotta go.talk to ya later.</P>

yeah i have seen some Dove heads on ebay before that were pretty reasonable. I had a guy that lived down the steet from me offer to sell me his truck with a 460 in it for $800 the other day but i figure he has drove that thing to death and put it through hell because he used the truck for hauling and heavy work . Which type of donor car would you recommend? What I mean is what kind of car shuld I pull the engine from? Were there 40's that came with more stock HP than others or are better equiped from the factory? </P>
