Default RE: Spring Cleaning

SVTBill-Actually an orbital buffer like the Porter Cable won't burn your paint and is completely safe. The orbital spins in an oval motion and doesn't get the paint hot like a circular buffer that actually spins in a circular motion and can burn the paint. The Porter Cable is so popular because you can get professional results without having to worry about hurting your paint. It just takes longer to get the results than with a circular.

A clay can also damage thepaint if used incorrectly. When claying make sure to use plenty of clay lube. You don't have to apply any pressure and let the clay just glide over the paint. When the clay starts getting dirty knead it to a clean section an so on. When I get a claybar I break it up into a few different pieces, pick out one and put the rest back in a baggy or storage container. This way if you drop the clay you won't have to throw away a whole claybar you just toss that one piece out and get another. You don't want to use clay if you drop it on the ground because it will pick up a lot of junk and then you will be putting that back into your paint. If claying is done right it will produce excellent results and make your paint really smooth.
