Default Best for Decals?

I know after a while, vinyl has a tendency to crack and peel. What can be done to preserve it? I'm talking about the "Mustang" stripe at the bottom of my car.
Some guy said just put detailer spray on it like McGuire's, but is that enough?

So guys, what's a good "over the counter" product that I can use on the vinyl stripe?

I'd just keep it waxed. Vinyl cracks from it absorbing sun, getting hot, etc.... A nice coat of wax will keep it from absorbing the sunlight and drying out.

You could get the wax out of the lettering with a small detail brush....or one of those vent cleaners, that has a small rubber pointed edge on the back side. Or you could use one of the liquid spray waxes on teh markey....spray it on, wipe it off....they dont dry chalky and leave residue.
