Tire shine works good to the plastice parts

 

You are correct - I use to use that method until I found CD-2. The CD-2 bakes on and doesn't remain greasy, thus it doesn't collect dust and grime like tire foam does. But both methods do make it look nice & black & wet under the hood

CD-2 is hard to find now for some reason. I found it at murrays auto parts. If you can`t find it anywhere, do a search on google. Also autozone doesn`t have it anymore. They replaced it with basically the same thing made by black magic. Never tried it though.
