Default Wet Sanding Paint

I am thinking about having my paint wet sanded to get rid of the orange peel. Does anyone know about how much this costs? And I am also thinking about adding a couple of coats of clear coat. Again, if anyone knows about what will this cost?

Thanks!!!

you know how the skin of an orange looks, looking at it from the side? its got dimples in it - well paint will have orange peel unless you sand them out between coats and after the clear coat. I doubt theirs enough clear on factory paint to get it out but I dunno for sure.

Yes i dunno about having enough clear from the factory, but i was watching Trucks on spike a few days ago and they wetsanded and buffed a 10 year old ford explorer and they had enough clear left. You could always shoot on some more clear coat before wet sanding to be safe if your worried about going through, and possible swirling the paint if you buff it

It shouldnt cost that much, I did mine myself, you just have to be careful and take your time. But also be very cautious becausem ur taking some of the clear coat off and it you sand it too much you can mess up the paint. But if you want it done proffessionally it shouldnt cost you more than $100. I ended up getting the whole door repainted for $250.00's tho cuz the color sanding didnt get all of the scratch.

No it doesnt leave a gloss it takes some of the clear coat off. More scratches that arent deep are just in the clear coat. Thats why if u can feel the scratch by rubbing your nail against it you can't fix the scratch you would have to repaint it. like I said it shouldnt cost more than 100 bucks.

It will actually give you more of a gloss look too it. Take a newly pained black car for instance: Have you ever seen the difference between it not sanded and buffed, and sanded and buffed. The results are amazing in the end. Usually on oldercars I would use a higher grit sand paper to avoid sanding through the clear, But you shouldn't have that problem if it has orange peel and most likely wasn't sanded before you should have enough clear on there. Depending on the shop it might run you $100-$500 depending on the reputation and quality the shop puts out. I'd advise you from getting your whole car cleared again. Most people don't understand this, but it isn't mostly the materials that make up the cost of a painjob. A lot of it's the labor involved. You don't just slap down a few peices of 2 inch tape and some paper. And call it a day. But the labor is a big role in a paintjob cost. And if you want to get your whole car re-cleared. Expect to spend near what a paintjob might cost. You might as well just get it all repainted. Plus if you get it cleared again and they don't wetsand it back down, you might be exactly where you are.
