Bodywork is the hard part painting is easy I know guys who cant paint a lick but are artists in repair work. I've taught 13 yr olds how to paint and are now working in custom shops at 17. I had them start out with small metal trash cans. Go buy a cheap gun Astro or copy of a binks #7 around 20 bucks at a flea market. Go buy some primer from a paint supply and see what they have for mis matched paint cheap.Talk to them about mixing supplies and thinner to paint ratios . Do a search on painting to get you started prep is very important clean clean clean .Sanding to start, finer grit 320, 600 on primer1000 or higher onprepainted surfaces. Dont worry about runs to much it will all sand out. Feel free to PM me anytime with questions. I've been painting for over 30 yrs and know almost all the tricks.
Thanks jjjmm, I appreciate the tips exactly what I was looking for. I used to paint RC cars, model cars, bikes, etc using air brushing and rattle cans; just looking to take it a step further and mess around on some parts laying around, and maybe some trash cans
