Teflon is just a sales gimmick. For teflon to work like it is advertised it would have to be baked on the paint.

For your black car you should check out my Wet Wax. This will give good protection plus add a real wet look and a lot of slickness to the paint. You could also throw on some of my Wet Glaze before the wax for a dripping wet look and even more depth.

Gimmick? This teflon stuff I got works really well, and beads up forever. It smells like absolute nasty-mildew-rat's-rearend, but it seems to do it's job. But then again, a black car in the 90f + ATL sun, I guess it is getting baked on!

Check out this thread about Teflon over at Autopia. There are many other articles I've read about Teflon and how it is just marketing.
