I am or was nervous of what it does to the paint though. Can it effect the clearcoat?

It won't hurt the clearcoat at all. It takes all of the embedded contaminants out and leaves a silky smooth feel. Just use plenty of clay lube and let the claybar glide over the paint. There is no need to apply any pressure at all.

BTW- I carry a 4 oz. elastic claybar. I sell the clay by itself and also have a kit with the clay and lube.
http://www.obsessivedetail.com/Obses...lProducts.html The claybar is about halfway down the page.

What exactly is the process for usin this? Is it: wash, clay, wash, wax? Or just wash, clay, wax?

I always wash, clay, polish, and then wax.
