Default applying decals

I'm going to be putting a decal on my hood on my stang and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on a good way of doing it. I tryed it the way the instructions said--Spray hood with soapy water, place decal on hood and move it around to the desired spot, squeegee out all the water and peel back the paper-- well when I did that I could not for the life of me get that d**n thing to stick. I was working on it for 2 hours!! I was squeegeeing that thing until my arm almost fell off[:@] Finally I just ended up throwing it out. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated,Thanks

You may of had too much water on there. Too much water will cause the decal to float pretty much. What you want is a thin layer of water on there so when you do move the decal around it pushes the water around and out to make it easier to squeegee it on.

It's a lot more difficult with a larger decal. The water and soap are there to keep it from sticking while you position it, so you only need a very light coating. If you didn't feel it start to stick at all then you either had too much solution under it, or just an over abundance of soap. You only need a little soap in the water, think bubble solution for kids.

You need the soap, just not a lot of it. The soap helps it slide around and helps the water get squeegee'd (sp?) off.
