I just bought my 86gt and it sat for a little over 2 yrs and I began waxing it today and its patchy, some spots shined right up and others have a dull lightness, how can I get it back to a semi even coat.

 

Can u get some pics of the dull spots? More then likely the clearcoat has been attacked by the sun and is breaking down. You can try some 3M extra cut rubbing compund, with either a buffer or by hand. Whichever u choose, be sure to try it on a less noticeable area first.

 

I wont be able to get any pictures untill tomorrow, suns off the car so its hard to see the spots anymore, everything blends together aslong as direct sunlight isnt on it.
