Obsessivedetail light polish or Optimum Polish. Either should give you good results. Yeah the SSR's are swirl removers (SSR- super swirl remover). Just take your time. Be sure to read all you can on proper washing techniques- 2 bucket method- . This is really important because thats where your swirls come from. Pick up some good soap and quality wash mitts. Learning how to properly wash your car will go along way.

Maybe i'm too ****? is it actually possible to have no swirls or marring at all? i'll put in an order to justin sometime this week or next (polish)and try it all over and see how it works out for me. Thanks for your help

Unless I misread your posts, I believe you missed a step....you need a polish step with the white pad in there prior to glaze and wax. You also need to really work the swirl remover at the high speed on the PC (as I learned the hard way from Justin) for good paint correction. The orange pad tends to leave a hazyniess (or its own swirls so to speak) which is what the white pad and polish get rid of while really making the paint shine. See my post from last week (Detailed My Dads Black Corvette....) and you will see you are not alone...I spent 10+ hours on it []

And remember, you need to WORK the product in not just do a simple Mr. Miagi "wax on/wax off"

im going to order a polish and use that white pad and see if it removes it. Until then I'm going to try and avoid worrying about it as constantly trying to remove it will probably make it worse. I don't need to reclay the car though being it is smooth as glass, right?

If you've clayed it recently you should be okay. Put your hand in a ziplock back and slide it over the surface, if its slick you're okay. If it feels rough, then clay it.

You really don't need to order another polish. The SSR1 will work fine for your final polish, you want to use that with the white polishing pad. One problem that I noticed is that you are only bumping it upto speed 5. You really need to go to speed 6 to do some good paint correction. You should be spending 4-5 minutes on a 2x2 section and letting the polish break down completely. Sometimes it will take a few passes to completely remove the swirls. Also make sure you are using slow passes and put around 15 lbs. of pressure behind it.

Always use speeds 5-6 if you are trying to remove swirls, for worse swirls you will need speed 6.

For glazes, sealants, and waxes you don't want to go over speed 4.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions. You can also give me a call if you want and we can discuss any questions you might have. Don't give it up yet, it just seems like you need a little more practice. There is a learning curve and you will keep getting better at it.

You need to set time aside to do this properly until you have experience.

I've recently done my black car and the results were amazing and I'm as **** as they get...

YOU NEED GOOD LIGHTING!!!

You will take your orange cutting pad, apply a quarter size amount of SSR2.5 to the pad, with the PC still off, rub it over the 2x2 area you are working on (pick a flatter surface light your hood for now). Turn your PC to speed setting 3 & turn on. Quickly work the polish in for about 10 seconds over the area you will work on. Turn the PC to speed setting 6 (this will improve corrective ability). Apply enough pressure on the PC that the PC plate sinks into the pad a bit, don't go too far as the PC will stop moving and just vibrate in place...Work VERY SLOW! It's going to seem slow and tedious, but this needs to be done for the polish & pad to do it's work, otherwise you'll get the same results as before. Moving slow & working the area until the polish breaks down is key! Go side to side for a minute, switch to top to bottom for a full pass & then do an angled pass. By this time the polish should have broken down. Wipe away with a microfiber cloth and see if the swirls are gone, if not - apply another quarter size amount of polish to your pad and repeat the process.

It's a bit tedious to get started, since your car hasn't been properly maintained until you bit the bullet & bought the proper products & forced yourself to correctly wash/dry & maintain your finish! The initial polishing is going to take a good amount of time to get the results you want.

Once your car is all nice and pretty - practing the 2 bucket wash method & using the correct products- if you manage to make another swirl booboo it'll likely take1 pass of SSR1 & 1 hour of your time to do the entire car and fix any mistakes!

Justin I really appreciate all of your help. Your customer service is outstanding I'll give it another shot this weekend and see how it goes, I feel as though maybe i was in fact pressing too hard possibly and the machine was merely vibrating in place as Dan said. I will try bumping it up to speed 6 and see how that works, I'm not ready to give up yet as I want my black to stand out and look incredible both day and night.

Dan i appreciate your long and descriptive post. Like i said in the post above I am going to try it again this weekend at my friend's body shop this weekend away from mother nature and where there are lots of high intensity lights to show imperfections. I also feel as though maybe I might have been pressing too hard and the machine was just vibrating but I did work it in well enough this time without any hazing. Hopefully the third time is a charm lol I'll get some before and after pics when I'm done. I refuse to let the swirls remain on the paint.
