Finally own a Mustang!
I finally own a Mustang. A red, 2006 Mustang GT to be exact. I've always wanted a Mustang and now I have one. Now I need to care for it properly, that's why I came here.
In your opinions, what are the best cleaning products, such asthe soap, wax, polish, etc.,to use? I can say that I plan on using Teflon wax but as far as soap and polish, I don't know what to use. For soap I've always just used some dish soap in a bucket of water.

Congrats on the new purchase!
First off, I wouldn't use dish soap on the paint. It is hard on all of the plastic trim plus it will take off any wax you may have on the vehicle each time you wash. As far as wax with Teflon, it is just a sales gimmick. Teflon would have to be baked on the paint for it to work like it says.
I carry some excellent products that many members on here use. All of my products are easy on/easy off with no residue. For a good car wash you can't go wrong with Optimum Car Wash. It comes in a 32 oz. bottle, one capful is all you need per gallon of water, it foams like crazy too. The Car Wash is currently on sale.
For a good polish I would go with Poorboys SSR1 or my Light Polish for a hand application. Next I would use my Wet Glaze, this will add a ton of wetness and depth to your red paint. Lastly top with my Wet Wax, this will add even more wetness and depth plus good protection. This combo is really popular among members here.Check out my website at www.obsessivedetail.com for all of these products. Also check out my Customer Rides section to see what my products look like on different colored cars. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any product questions.

+1 Justins products work wonders on these cars and his customer service is even better. I would strongly reccomend the wet acrylic glaze, poor boys products ssr1 and opti seal instead of a wax (if your car isn't garaged).
congrats on the purchase and juztang is like the king of the detailing section every product that i use on my car came from him
i like you already because of your screenname and i dont even know you

Juztang, if I were to use your products, would I use them in this order?
[ol][*]Car Wash[*]Light Polish[*]Wet Glaze[*]Wet Wax[/ol]
A couple of other things.
[ul][*]If I were to do only 3 steps, the 1st being the washing and the last being the wax, what would I use in the middle? The Light Polish or Wet Glaze?[*]If I wanted to use a wax of my personal choice other than your Wet Wax, would that interfer with the polish or glaze that I would be applying?[*]I notice the Optimum car wash says that it WON'T remove the wax so does this mean each time I apply polish and wax that I'll be applying it over an old wax layer? Is this good or bad? Logically thinking, that would just become a build-up of layers and it wouldn't be good.[*]How often would I need to apply polish, glaze, and wax? If I do that all that the first time, does that mean I don't have to use soap the next time I wash it since dirt should wipe right off with some water because of the wax on there?[*]Is it okay if these things go on the plastic parts of the car, headlights, or windows? Obviously the soap would, but as far as the polish, glaze, and wax go, is there anything I should be avoiding getting these on or anything that I should be putting it on?[/ul]
FYI, my car is TORCHRED.
One last question:
[ul][*]What's the best tire and wheel cleaner?[/ul]

You have the products listed in the correct order. If you would pick between the Wet Glaze and the Polish I would pick the polish because it will clean the paint, remove light swirls and scratches, plus prep the paint for the next steps.
If you used your own wax it won't interfere at all. If you weren't going to use my wax I was definetely get my Light Polish and Wet Glaze. My Wet Glaze is one of my most popular products. This adds a lot of wetness and depth to the paint and it also has protection.
Some car washes are strong and will take off your wax. The Optimum Car Wash doesn't do that. If you are wanting to strip off layers of wax you just need to Polish. This will completely clean the paint and remove any products that were on there before. Then you would have to top it again for protection.
For the best looks and durability I would reapply everything every 2-3 months. They will actually last longer but you will get better looks and protection if you do it that way.
These products won't hurt your trim, headlights, etc. They also don't have any of that white residue like other products have. You can actually use my Polish on your headlights and windows too. They won't hurt your trim but I would still tried to avoid it.
For cleaning wheels and tires I use an all purpose cleaner and a brush to clean them. Then I dress the tires with Poorboy's Bold N Bright tire dressing.
Hope this helps!
