Default Question about Shift **** Install

I have a question to you guys who installed new shift *****. I got a new MGW one and took the old leather mustang **** off and screwed on the new one. The question is, there is a a little tube type of piece that was underneath the old shift **** however that piece is all scratched up and worn (black piece) so with the new MGW shifter since its silver bottom it looks kind of weird with the old piece from the old ****.

Do you guys take that piece out completely or just leave it there, or buy a new one? or am I just being too picky ? LOL

yea its basically a black ring...only reason I thought of keeping it in there is so that the shifter handle is covered up in between the **** and the base but I might take it out now. Thanks

i picked up the one with the Cobra on it, triple chrome. Much better control with it then the leather stock one, only complaint is in New England...cold weather in the morning freezes off your arm while shifting

bet that looks good. i was afraid to get the full triple chrome, because it gets pretty warm down here in NC in the summer. Didn't want a pony shaped third degree burn!!!

I think I'm on the right page here, but a few years ago I put a Hurst T-handle in my 92 Camaro (sorry, if I'm not supposed to use that word around here), and that left some threads and handle exposed. I found that the rubber weather boot from outdoor home coaxial cable fit and looked great. It covered up the handle threads, and even had a large section on the end that covered the jam nut... Just thought it might be something for you to look in to.

[sm=alcoholic.gif] Sounds like something a Camaro owner would do. [sm=chairshot.gif]
