CAR DUSTERS SAFE OR NOT?
now that i think about you are just using it on dust mine is not just dust i live in the middle of a corn field and on a 400 foot stone driveway so most of the time mine has more than the normal dust on it
My California dusters hurt the paint on my GT and my Cobra.
Think about it, they claim to 'lift' dust into the duster. Unless you pick up the duster and gently place it on the car, all you are doing is rubbing the excess dust all over the paint until it's picked up by the duster. How far do you have to move the duster before it picks up the dust it's placed ontop of? The next time your car is dusty, get in the right sunlight where you can see all the dust. Please the duster down and pick it back up. See everythign that is left behind? While there may not be much, that would have been dragged around.
Also, take your duster and move it across the paint to the edges or end of a panel. Take a look, you'll see a light buildup of dust on the edges of your panels. Why? Because that didn't get picked up and was just dragged across your paint.
It may work for some people, but it absolutely didn't work for me, Regardless of how light a dusting my car had.
Justins Quick Detailer is so easy to use I wouldn't ever bother with risking the finish on my car with a duster again.

I have a California Duster that came from my Mothers, mother of all detailing kits sold at brenspeed, havent had any problems no scratches at all. I dont press it down hardon the car just slightly to get wutever dust gets on the car.
Like Dan04 cobra said it may work for some people.

Most people confuse dust with dirt thats the problem. these dusters are only good if you keep your car garaged & get mild dust paticles & lint stuff that isin the air. But if your car is out side 24/7 its pointless to use it.It will scratch your car. I own The california car duster my self I stoped using it because like i said my car spends more time out side now thatI dont have a garage.

I use the duster every night before I cover the car up. I have to park the car under a tree that spits sap everywhere so I dust it to get all of the light stuff off and than cover her up until the next morning. I have been doing this since June and have had no issues what so ever.

You can buy one at places like Walmart, Sears or any Automotive stores. Everyone has them.
BTW, I want to slap my screen everytime I see thebug running around in your signature pic.

i love my duster. i have been using them for about 3 years and have gotten my whole family hooked on them. every car we have has one in the trunk. they def arent an alternative to a car wash, but if you have a little dust on there then they work great. i like using that then a quik detailer and the car looks great.
The dusters I am aware of are treated with pariffin wax, A friend of mine uses it on his black car and he loves it, so I tried it on my black car.
I don't use wax on my car and it streeked the car with wax from the duster.
I guess it depends on what you use as a protectant on your paint.
Pariffin is the same ingredient used in transmission fluid.
