88 GT cat back problems
Hello, I just installed MAC equal length header, a walker 2 cat H-pipe and MAC Cat back system. However the floor pan in the rear of the car over the mufflers keeps getting REALLY hot, there is really no adjustment in the system to move them away from the floor pan. Has anyone else had this problem? How would I correct this? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

How much space do you have between the two? Are they closer than your stock ones? You have hangers on the front I think, and the rear can't really be adjusted as its attatched to you h-pipe for support. Really unless your rubbing it should be a problem, maybe your running lean? You could maybe insulate your floorpan better.
I have modified the hangers and gotten the mufflers about 3 inches away from the floor pan, and this did not resolve the problem. I had thought of engine problems, more along the lines of running rich, but this did not happen before, and I have made no changes in the engine. Does anyone know were to get heat sheilds for this type of application?
You probably can't find heatshields specifically made for your application & problem.

Just take'er to an exhaust shop and let them know what's going on. I bet they can do some work for under 100 bucks to fix your problem.
