I am also curious, my wheels have started pitting and I would also like to know how to better prevent it. Is there a wheel wax or something?

I believe normal wax can be used.

Are the wheels stock? If they are they are generally coated with a clear coat. That being said, if you used one of these polishes with a drill attached polish ball you may remove that coat and cause the rest of your wheel to be damaged faster. Generally the cause of the spots is brake dust that dwells to long on the surface and the use of Acid to remove the dust. I would recommend only using Car was soap when cleaning the wheels. Make sure that you clean the inside of the wheel also. Then if you have Wheel weights on the outside of the wheel go to a tire shop and have them use the stick on weight on the inside of the wheel to get them avoid this type of damage. Last of all after the wheel is as clean as you can get it the seal it with a quality sealer. The clear coat on the rims is not much different then the coat on the paint. Justang sells may good items to make this work or let me know and I can get the Car Brite stuff for you. Normal wax will work for a short time but the heat that is generated from the brakes will melt the wax off with a quickness. Sealer is the best.

i would try a clay bar on them. like 07mustang3:73 said, they prob have some sort of clear coat on them if they are stock. but the clay bar should pull contaminants out of it just as if it were car paint. then i would put some chrome polish and wax on them.

Ever springI spend acouple hours on my rims.

I first wash then dry (both sides), then use a chrome polishon both sides with a cheese sponge, elbow grease, and swirl it around.

ThenI use http://www.obsessivedetail.com/wheelsandtires.html
OD's Wheel Seal.

Instead of applying it with a cloth or sponge, I just put a latex glove (dont kill me Justin! )on and use my hand/fingers to spread the sealant around. I Seal the front 2x then the back 3x, it gets athicklayer on each time.I get a good, heavy, coat and that lasts the rims well into summer.

Why would you seal the back 3x and the front 2x? If most of this is caused by brake dust, there is a 70/30 ish front to rear brake bias...
