I just ordered my Porter Cable and now need the polishes to go with it. I was thinking of getting the Optimum combo from Obsessive Detail. I have heard that the Hyper Compound should be worked with a rotary and not a DA polisher. Can I use the Hyper Compound with my PC and work it longer or does it really need to be worked with a rotary?

Also, how many pads of each type (cutting,polishing, etc) would I need to do a whole car?

 

Actually the Hyper Compound works really well with the PC, but most of the time it isn't needed. The Optimum Compound will take medium to swirls out really well.

I always tell people to get 2 pads of each just so you don't have to stop and clean the pad if the pad gets dirty or you are switching products.

I would get a least 2 white polishing, 2 orange light cutting, and 2 gray finishing pads. The yellow one won't be needed unless you have really bad swirls and scratches.
