96 mustang coupe

The 96 mustang's ashtray in the center console is covered by a sliding panel. The actual metal ashtray is connected to a plastic piece where there is a cigarette lighter. I want to cut out that entire piece (keeping the sliding panel) and install just a regular box. I then want to run the ipod hookup (already installed) from my radio to that box.

Budget=100$

Is this feasible? How much of this could i do myself?

 

im sure it could be done. i just took the ashtray out of mine and i keep the remote for the cd player in there. with the ashtray out, there is enough clearance that the door will close fine. so you might wanna just check that way out instead of trying to make a box to go in there. the only thing that you will have to worry about is it sliding around when the door is open, but that can be solved with a piece of velcro.
