Scratch, scuff removal
Recently a storm blew through and the roof at my work blew off and landed on my car. On both finders, roof, doors, and rear bumper there is black scuffs and what appears to be dirt but it won't come off. Some of it may be tar but how can I get this off without repainting. Do you think a clay bar would work or what?
Bummer deal...
Some photos might be helpful, but if it's a lot of tar, I'd probably try some Goo Gone first to dissolve the tar.
Then try clay, just to get any remnants of it off the finish.
You'll probably have to use some Scratch Remover in spots, and Mothers makes a good one. Work it lightly in varying directions with a quality cotton terry or microfiber towel. Repeat if necessary.

If it was my ride, I would take it to a reputable detail shop and have them acess what can be done or not. They know all the tricks, tips etc. for correcting paint problems and if it can be done or not. They should be able to give you a good expert opinion.
