stripping my car?
well i got this 4 banger mustang for my dd and i thought i would use it to learn how to do paint and body... so i started stripping it with aircraft remover is there any reason i cant drive around in a car with bare metal? i live in arizona and i didnt really see a problem with it but i just want to make sure and also how do i take of the side molding and is there a way to get the paint off the bumpers?
I am definitely not a paint and body guy, but I would think that totally stripping the car to the bare metal is not a great idea. I would think that would double your work, because you would then have to go back and prep the bare metal for pits and contamination, afterwards. Especially if you drive it around before painting it.
I would just do whatever body work that needed to be done, then sand everything to perfection, and paint. Atleast that would leave some protection on the metal as you did the other work, and then you would just use a final cleaner to wipe it, before painting.
