How do I clean MF towels?
So occasionally I like to wipe my car with a damp MF towel thats just been out of the dryer. I usually run my hand across the towel to check for any big pices of dirt that may have clings onto the fibers. Just then today when I took one of my MF towels from the dryer and wet it a bit, I tried to rub away this etch or something I see on my paint, and I realized that it was what is putting new scratches on my finish!!!
I realized that it doesn't scratch unless I wrap one of my fingers with the towel and try and put pressure rubbing in a specific area.
So my question is how are you meant to properly clean MF towels to make sure it is 100% scratch free?
Thanks,
Brandon

You got grease or something abrasive in that there MF.....retire it to your garage pile or use it on other parts of your car other than the paint [

I buy (2) 12 packs of mfs at Meijer every spring and use those as my detailing rags. I use the cleanest of the batch for paint only, and the dirtier ones I use on the engine, interior, jambs, wheels, etc. Wash your mfs on warm with a good detergent. I add a touch of bleach even though its not recommended, and dry them.....do this ALL SEPARATELY! DO NOT wash your mfs in the washer with other stuff that can produce lint! At the end of the year those mfs become my regular garage rags and I start over in the spring....its a pretty cheap system that has yeilded me a scratch, swirl free finish since April of 2005.
Also, store your mfs together in a nice, clean bag and keep them in the trunk or something....if you catch your wife/girlfrien/mom/dad/whoever going into the cabinet to grab a mf to us on anything other than your car, well smack their a$$ [8D]
Also, I never use a dry or damp mf on my paint. I always use detail spray when using a mf on the paint. This could be part of your problem too...you are rubbing in water to your finish, not lubricated detailer.
Yes I am that ****.....and I don't even have black paint

Oh, I guessI might start to consider MF towels disposable then lol
Well I didn't reall want to use a damp towel, I just wanted to wipe off some light dust and etc and I always make sure it's dry so I don't get any water marks.
I want to use quick detailer but I heard you should only use it on a car thats just been washed, is that true?

Oh ok cool. Well I just went down to my local store and bought some wash equipment as well as Meguiar's ultimate quik detailer. Can't wait to try it out after I finish washing with Optimum no-rinse I just ordered from you guys!
Wet microfiber towels will scratch the paint or just about anything else you rub with it like a fine grit sandpaper.
If you want to see how much take a wet MF and rub it on a polished aluminum wheel and check out the scratches it leaves behind.

I wash my micros in the washing machine with Charlie's Soap or All free & Clear. I've been washing them for about 2 years like this and they're still doing good.
Saleen429, What kinda m/f towels are you using??
Just wondering. People dry their cars (including me) with large Microfiber towels and also quick detail their cars with m/f towels and these towels are damp.

I am using the same MF towels everyone else uses.
Just try what I said and you will find out for yourself. If you wet a microfiber towel then rub aluminum with some pressure it will scratch it just like using fine grit paper (like 2000-3000 grit)
I QD my car and wax with microfiber towels also I would just never use them wet for anything on my car.
