Rear bumper replacement cost
The other day young dude was on his cellphone and rearended me in the traffic jam. He was going about 10 and I was just standing. There is not much damage, but the bumper cover is scratched a little and some fasteners undeneath broke. I got 06GT Convertible, Lime Green. How much do you think it will cost me to fix it ( I live in Philly )? I am thinking; should I letthe insurance company do it, or just get the check instead and decide what to do later?
Ive had this happen twice already go get an estimate on your own to see how much it will cost to touch it up and/or replace any parts that need to be. Sometimes the amount the other insurance company will pay out is more then the actual damage will cost you to fix it privately.
I will stop by the body shop tomorrow and find out what they say. Insurance said they would not use the original new Fordparts, but would try to substitute with the used or aftermarket parts. What a lot of crap, putting aftermarket parts on 2 years old GT vert? What if the paint peels or the colors do not much? I do not know... But I was wondering how much the check might be so I can decide to keep it the way it is and pocket the moneyor risk the job being botched...
I'm not exactly sure for you car, but when i was rear ended i received a check for about $2500. So it all depends on how bad the damage is. When i was rear ended i was sitting at a red light and a toyota camry rear ended a 07 Mustang GT which then rear ended me. So my entire rear bumper and assembly was destroyed.
the insurance company said they wont replace with OEM parts? thats bulls**t. im pretty sure that it is required by law that they replace it back to factory (which would use OEM parts). i think they are lying to you when they said that. does your bumper actually need to be replaced? or can the little brackets be fixed and a fresh coat of paint be sprayed on it? cause that would save some $$. if it is the other guys fault, then let his insurance pay for it, but make sure it is done right. i wouldnt pay it out of my pocket if i were in this situation, thats why the other guy pays his insurance premiums.
Its not bad, just a scratch on the cover, some discoloration of the plastic around the number plate (I have the 06 model so the number is right inside the bumper cover ), and a broken bracket underneath, do no think it affects anything. I heard the aftermarket parts story before, but I thought they would not do it on a car that still under warranty. I decided to take the money, will see how much it will be.
i had the same think happen to my car and i live in the trenton are so its kinda close to u. all i have is a little indent . i went to a dealer painter and they said 1100 cause i have to get a new bumber and then painted and then when my insurance company got in it it went down to like 700 800 and then they gave me a check for 600 of it since the person that hit me ran
