Default Newbie Wheels Question

Thanks for having me on the board, and I look forward to insight from fellow enthusiasts. I just purchased a 1989 Black GT with 41K original miles. I really like the look of the Chrome Saleen Wheels with the R designation. However, my searches on ebay and so forth list that they are only available for the 1994-2005 model year. They also all appear to be at least 18X9 or bigger. My questions are as follows:

1) Can I get Chrome Saleen Wheels (with the look I want) for a 1989 to fit?
2) Is it possible to get 17X9's which I'm told would be best because it will be a daily driver?
3) Will the tire rub and wear faster if the wheel is 18X10 or bigger?
4) Is it insulting to put a new(er) Saleen wheel on a 1989 GT?

Any help, suggestions, or insights would be agreatly appreciated, and I'll post some pics after delivery from auction. This is going to be fun.

Myself I can't vouch for the tech side of the Q's, but the wheels are all in the style you as the driver are looking for, no matter if its a saleen wheel, a pimp my ride wheel or an every day driving wheel.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured the Saleens would be acceptable, I just need to make sure I can get a good fit. I love the Cobra wheels as well, but I may opt to have the Saleen wheels and get some racing seats with the Cobra emblem.

Got it for a steal. Under $1400 as somebody was going to donate it as a tax write off. It appears to have no exterior damage and a clean interior. With the money I saved, I'm looking forward to some sweet modifications.

Saleen wheels are awesome. I love them, I want some 17x9" ones too, If you find any let me know. I have seen them before, so I know they are out there! Is your car a 4 lug or 5 lug, that may be your problem.....

get a lug converter to 5-lug bolt pattern. saleens for sn95s are 18x9, but im sure a replica company has a 17x9. these are the 5 spoke wheels. i think you should look at the 95 cobra wheels (17x9) they look awesome on a fox, but you need a lug pattern converter to a 5-lug.

if you are going to get the saleens, then i think you will have to have a lug converter, but if you are gonna go with cobra r's then i know there are a ton of 4 lug sets floating around on ebay or other places on the internet. i have never seen a set of saleen rims on a fox before, but i think they would look pretty good, i know cobras look good though. get someone to photoshop some saleens on your car for you and see how you like them.
