Default C/S Polished Wheels

Weird...but there were only a couple of threads on this topic in all the archives. Even those had some conflicting info.

My wife bought me a set of brand new takeoff California Special 18" polished bullitts. I am pretty certain that the Ford OEM polished have a clearcoat over the polished AL...but I dont know that for sure.

Any advice on specific cleaners to use? If coated...should I treat it just like a waxed metal surface? Ie soap and water and then a regular car wax to keep brake dust and grime from adhering?

I figured there were some wheel products out there...but I want to make sure I get something that is safe on the coated finish.

I have an '07 GT/CS with the polished wheels and I have clayed them and then waxed them with Meguiers Tech 2.0. I also will use a wheel cleaner sometimes when I wash it but just soap & water does fine.
Good Luck!

I got mine at the end of september. I was hoping someone would answer your question so I could learn too. I don't think many people read the detailing section.

The clear coat on the wheels is the same as on the car so treat it the same way, wash and wax it. Clay it if it needs it and keep them shiny.

I have been using WheelSeal from Obsessive Detail. This stuff is awesome on the wheels. Leaves them looking amazing and it lasts alot longer than regular wax. It holds up to the repeated heat cycles better.
