i got white powdercoated cobra r style rims. they have long seen better days and on one of them the powdercoat started to come off. i would like to strip them all back to the aluminum can anyone tell me a good way to do it? short of taking it somewhere of course. thanks in advance

Go to pep boys and get a can of aircraft coating remover,(the stuff in a big metal can, not the aerosol it sucks lol) and a plastic scraper or something. I used the stuff to take the clear off of my stock 02 rims, it should work for powdercoating. A little thing i found out when using the stuff is to use a paint brush and really gob it on and then let it set for at least 15 mins before you start scraping it off. and make sure you pop off us center caps

i dont see why not, i did, but i didnt take any chances and wiped off any excess with paint thinner right away. The directions on the bottle are pretty helpful. It should take the powdercoating off, just make sure you let it sit and dont buy the aerosol.

Good luck! Its not too hard, just takes some patience and elbow grease

yeah, with that stuff, id be kind of weary using it with the tires on. i would tape around the edge of the rim so if it gets sloppy then it wont get on the tires.

I think underneath the powder coating, it might look pretty bad. You might want to just repaint them. Good luck

well i had a piece of the powdercoating come off when I not so smartly kicked the **** out of it because it was struck to the drum after i had taken all the lug nuts off. it looks like nice aluminum. at a mininum they need a recoat anyway but i am hoping they look good plain.
