Default Painting Calipers Properly

I have an '05 GT and I painted them red with the caliper paint brush application kit and it looked amazing. I am about to repaint them because it's been over a year and they're starting to chip away slightly. The only question i have is about the caliper paint curing. The kit I used previously required the paint to completely dry on the calipers for 24 hours prior to driving the car. This is a huge inconvenience for me because it's my only car. I saw this other type of caliper paint that simply comes in a spray-paint can. According to the spray, you only need to wait 30 minutes before driving the vehicle after applying the caliper paint. The only down-side of the spray is having to pull the calipers off the rotors, and pull the pads out. Even though I'm not going to fully disconnect the caliper, I feel like it would be much easier just using the brush application because all i need to do is take off the wheel. my main question here is.....does anybody know if it's ok to use the brush application and drive the vehicle without waiting 24 hours for it to cure? Would it be alright if i drove the car 3-4 hours after applying the paint? Thanks a lot for any advice.

Dupli-color recommends 3-4 hours of drying time before re-mounting the wheels after painting, BUT as with any paint that is going up against high-temps, you really should let it cure at least 24 hours before stressing it. Otherwise, the paint may chip or peel when the temperature gets colder.

I'd say that you can drive it after 4 hours or so, but only take it on short trips for the first day if possible... Maybe someone who knows a little more than me can confirm or deny this...

I'm lazy and love short cuts. I painted mine in 15 mins without removing the wheels. If it's a repaint, I would think you could get prettty good coverage like this. Of course it's your project, and I am lazy.

I know there are a few caliper paints, but I'd like to paint mine to match the body, Grabber Orange. I have touch up paint (Omni). Would I have any issues using that on the calipers or would the heat be too much?

yeah i also would like to know this to, my car just got out of the paintshop two days ago and the guy i use gave me the extra paint, so it would be sweet to have an exact match.

I think that it would burn and change colour pretty fast. Calipers can get pretty hot bringing a 3800 lb car down from 100 mph. The reason mine had to be redone was that they faded with age, dust etc. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't take the chance. I think it would be quite a chore to get the unwanted paint off to redo it properly. My 2 cents.

I recommend painting it before it rusts.
