Default Remove Hood Scoop?

I have a 2008 GT with a factory installed hood scoop and spoiler. If possible I'd like to have a body shop remove the scoop. However, I'm thinking it is bolted onto the hood and removal will leave holes. I don't know a lot about what kinds of things can be repaired by body shops.

Would they be able to fill in the holes and repaint? Or would I have to buy a replacement hood without holes that is then painted to match?

It will leave holes but if the body shop does good work they should be able to fill the holes and repaint without you ever knowing the hole were there.

As said, it will leave holes because it is bolted down.
Have you ever looked at the underside when the hood is up? You can see all of the bolts right there.

It will cost a pretty penny to get the holes filled and the topside refinished like factory. Really good shops charge more because of the end product. Depending on the colour the paint shop may even have to blend into your fenders.

I would suggest going with an aftermarket hood, getting it painted and selling your stock hood. I know that would be a few $$ but if you are going to have to paint a hood I would rather pay to paint a nicer hood than just a stocker.

You can also see if you can find someone with the same colour car as you without a scoop but would want one and then just do a swap.
Plenty of GT and V6 owners out there without scoops currently who would do that.
I've seen many a post on the boards for exactly this swap.

Good Luck to you!

A cheaper option that you could always consider is a stripe kit. You can find a way to fill the holes so they are flush with the rest of the hood, and add a vinyl stripe kit to the car so that you wont notice the holes. you can get Vinyl stripe kits for as low as $80 and its a lot cheaper than getting a new hood or getting some serious cosmetic work done at the body shop depending on if you like the stripe look or not. Just throwing a suggestion out there.
