Buffer/Black Box question
I have a Black 09 GT/CS and it has a ton of swirl marks and light scratches. I took it through the automatic touch-less car wash last winter to get some of the road salt off and the 2 guys that work there thought it would be a good idea to rub there brushes all over the dry dirty car. I have already clay barred the car, applied McGuires polishing compound by hand, then McGuires NXT gen 2.0 wax. It has made it a lot better but I can see a lot of the scratches still in the sunlight. I have thought about getting the Turtle Wax Black Box, would this help my swirl and scratch problem? I have also considered getting some kind of buffer, anyone have a suggestion on something I can get locally and not spend a fortune?
The ONLY thing that will REMOVE swirls is polishing. The turtle wax stuff will just fill the swirls and it will wash right off, showing all the imperfection. Unfortunately you are going to have to spend some money. A good polisher for beginners is the Porter Cable 7424XP. It will not do any harm. Check this guy out, he is legit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XAqpOe9Zt4 I use Adam's polishes to correct my paint, it is pretty safe. Also another good product Justin (Juztang) recommends is the M105/M205 combo, it will cut a lot faster, so you have to be a bit more careful.
I would recommend mothers powerball for paint. Might take a little more time but u get the same results as you would with a buffer. I used the m105 and m205 on my black GT and all I could say was wow that's what a black car should look like lol
