It's all in the mixing and prep if you want a "deep" black. If it just has minor scratches, are you sure it needs to be repainted? Also, how good is your friend at painting? Nothing will make you hate your car more than a bad paint job...just don't paint it if you don't need to.

He owns his own body shop and race car and ive never seen him do a bad job. but the chips are down to the primer... i dk how a car wash mamaged it but it did... so its replace a fender or give myself an excuse to repaint the car =D

So what you're saying is his paint jobs look good at 100mph? J/K That's cool as long as he knows what he's doing and you trust him. He should be able to recommend a paint probably better than most people here on the boards. What is he using now? PPG is pretty much the standard you'll see at most body shops. I've used it in the past and have been happy with the results.

A few scratches? Your friend sounds like he is trying to rip you off. Try polishing th scratches, perhaps wetsanding. The paint chips can be easily fixed as well. If your car has minor damage to the paint i wouldn't recommend it. Find a good detailed and he will make your paint look amazing. Last thing, never take your car through a car wash! You must not care very much for your car.

i agree with 19stang88, there should be no reason for you to have to repaint a car that is only 5 years old. most of the time minor scratches can be removed and chips can be easily touched up, if you know what you are doing. if the whole car isnt going to come apart and all the jams painted and everything, you are probably going to regret it in the end. id just find someone to do a good detail on it first and then think about painting it.

look into the langka and doctor chip products. They are good products to fix your chips. As far as finding a detailer, look for one who can do this.
