washing in winter
There is no close hand car wash place near me since I moved, and now that I own a black car (impossible to keep clean) I need an alternative.
Is a touchless car wash a bad idea? I would think the soap would be too harsh. Any ideas for cleaning the vehicle in a Chicagoland winter?

Optimum No Rinse is the way to go for winter time washing, especially here in Illinois. You just need a gallon of warm water with one ounce of No Rinse. Wash one panel with a wash mitt and then dry, no need to spray off with No Rinse. If you do a search for No Rinse, you will see tons of information and videos on how to use it.

I use the Magic wand down the street. It's a touch less do it yourself place. I keep my car heavily waxed at all time so the slush and muck just come right off. After the wash I take it right hoe into my heated garage and dry her off and either do a quick wax job or use a spray wax and wipe her down. I never let them Brush car washers ever touch my car! That No Rinse sounds cool too.
