If you can't afford a buffer right now, go to Autozone, Advance, Walmart, etc....pick up Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. They're about $10 each. Use each with a foam applicator, rub each area very thoroughly and buff with a microfiber towel - start with the compound and finish with the polish. Follow with a wax/sealant of your choice. You CAN work out defects by hand, it just takes some elbow grease. If you have any questions, call me at 1-877-2LETHAL and I'll walk you through it.

I saw those both when I got the Meguiar's Clay Bar. I almost grabbed them too. Thanks and I will call if I need help. I think my dad has a Mother's Power Ball for his drill, would using that help or only make it worse?

If it's brand new, you can use it with Ultimate Compound. If it's been used on any wheels, metal, etc, I'd avoid using it on paint due to cross-contamination - just work by hand.

Gotcha. Yeah I think it has been used before but idk. I will check with him before I use it for sure. I got all day to work on it tomorrow and Saturday too. So I think I have enough time to figure something out. You may end up getting a call from me tomorrow. Lol.

No need for a call. That stuff worked like a charm! I think I'm in love with those two products. They hid the scratches for the most part too. You have to be eye level with them to see them and you have to know they are there. Thank you so much! Seriously!

Now I think I have another question for you, my wheel has some rusting on it. I went to the place where i got them to see if they would warranty it and they said it was brake dust deposits can you take a look and give me your opinion and maybe a fix if it is brake dust?

They are small spots along the spokes and rust deposits on the lip. I have a wheel polish but I'm not sure if I should really use it since the wheels are painted. I don't know if the lip is painted though, not real sure if it is just metal or not. Any help?

On the wheels that looks like light road rash maybe combined with a little corrosion taking some paint off from brake dust. As they are painted, I'd treat the painted surface like you would paint on any other part of the car. Just make sure you don't use any of the cleaning materials on your car body again to avoid contamination. The lip is probably just aluminum and you could get some wheel polish for that. Also you mentioned you had one of those mothers wheel foam dealies...those can be good for inside the wheel too if the space is large enough, but otherwise you might consider pulling each wheel to clean the inside nicely, then remount and clean the face of really well. Off season, you might consider stripping and painting them but they will have a clear coat on them that you'd have to deal with too.

If your lips don't require polishing on a regular basis (ie they don't oxidize quickly) then they are clear coated and should be treated like the rest of the wheel. DO NOT use wheel polish on a clear coated surface - just use the Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish as you did on the other spots and it should clear a lot of it up. But if it's deep pitting you're dealing with, refinishing is the only way to get it truly perfect.

This wheel is the only wheel it is on. None of the other wheels have these marks or anywhere close to it and they have only been on a year. I noticed the marks this past December, less than 4 months after I got them so I doubt this is road rash.

The Power Ball has been used before on my dad's aluminum wheels though so I can't use it unless I get a new one. The lip also does not need to be polished either so I guess it is clear coated, that should have been obvious to me though. I will use the compound and polish and see how it goes this weekend.

You guys talk about contamination though, does that mean I can't use the same microfiber towels after I have washed them in a clothes washer?

And something still hasn't been answered from the original post, I'm getting the hood and a chin spoiler painted and installed and will have flat black paint on them. How do I take care of flat black paint?

Don't worry about washing the towels in a washer..I've never seen any issues caused by doing so.

As for flat paint, NEVER use any abrasive products on it. If you need a cleaner, stick with something non abrasive like Klasse All In One. But for the most part, just use a pure sealant or wax with no cleaning ability. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant is a good choice, as is something like Optimum Car Wax or Collinite 845.
