Default keyed

Someoned keyed my car. I'm not sure when it happened. My car has been so insanely dirty for the past few days that it might have happened over the weekend. I just washed it tonight, so i noticed it when it was clean. An angry drunk tried to start a fight with me on Sunday. Maybe that bastard keyed it. Oh, someone also stepped on my hood. There were shoeprints, and some of the paint on my hood is cracked from that. This has always been a great fear of mine, and now it happened. I'm SO freakin' angry right now. It's insane how stupid people are. Grrr....

I'll post pics whenever I find the camera.

I'm thinking about trying to get that guy who was drunk to admit that he keyed my car, record it, and take legal action.

If he was drunk he might not remember it. Just keep that in mind. Even though he doesn't admit to it, he really might not think that he did. So it's kinda a hard situation.

nvm, that won't work. i just found out that if they don't consent to the recording, it can't be counted as evidence. i have another idea of what it might be. i always park way out in the middle of nowhere in parking lots which makes it obvious to people that i'm trying to avoid scratches. maybe someone noticed that and keyed my car for the hell of it. you think that's a possibility? maybe i should park closer?

Have your insurance pay for it, if the deductible isnt that bad. Who knows you can prolly get a new paint job and hood. I'd look into that if I were you. I'd be pissed if someone keyed my car, let alone I would then have to pay to get it fixed. A friend of mine got his car keyed and got a new paint job and it only cost him like less than 500 bucks, he wasnt too upset cuz he wanted a new paint job anyways....

depends on the state you're in. In AZ we can record whomever and whatever we want. In CA we couldn't unless they consented. Can't find the page I learned about this on at the moment but if you're interested in pursuing it just do a google search for 'state statutes for recording conversations. A lot of it is phone related stuff but it does cross into person to person conversations.

Eitherway...good luck in getting that fixed. What's worse is when your car gets scratched and you KNOW who did it but can't do anything about it...I.e. my step son ...grrr.... it was an accident but I had warned him before...

I wouldn't think so. That would be really messed up if that was their reason.

I always park my car in the middle of the lot, around other cars, but away from the beater cars and people who seemingly can't park. And I always pull through. not that the last bit would prevent vandalism, but it's good parking advice. lol. I park near the nicer cars where people can see my car, that way I know that someone might see something.

Anyways, it sucks that your car got keyed! I had my 3rd brake light cover keyed right after I got back from vacation and went back to work. Its too costly for me to replace the whole cover, so it stays there like that.

If the scratches aren't that bad, they should buff out... I've had some minor scratches buff right now, just fine.

This is exactly why I'm afraid to get my car fixed up! I'll have my car looking great then some *** comes and keys / steps on the hood for no reason. My driverside fender and door are just primer so I think that keeps the bastards away. =]

*sigh* Such a nerve-racking decision... To paint or not to paint?
