Best place to start is how to properly wash your vehicle to minimize swirls.

First should be a good sponge, and using the 2 bucket method. 1 bucket with a sudsy shampoo, another bucket with a grit guard and just water. Use the grit guard bucket after washing each section to remove the debris/dirt in the sponge.

I've tried the 2 bucket method... once. It totally sucked. You just end up trying to wash out the dirt in a bucket full of suspended, ah, dirt. I use the hose method. I spray down my wash mitt with the hose before going back into the wash bucket. It actually uses less water and it gets rid of the deep down dirt. My wash bucket is still very clean when I'm finished.

 

Hmmm, that's a good idea. I'm pretty frugal with my water because I use the, "spotless" water deionizer and the filters (I have the big one) are only good for 300 gallons. So being in the mindset of saving water, it never occurred to me to spray the micro cloth after each use. In retrospect, my mindset defeats the purpose of keeping the car scratch free because of the dirt that gets into your wash bucket when you rinse off your rag and dipping the rag back into dirty water, logically, is a great way to re-introduce more scratches.
