Default Confused on paint

Hey all, new to the forum.
I recently purchased a beautiful SN95 and I love it.
However, It needs new paint on the front bumper and some touch ups here and there.
I have been on a hunt to find out what color the beauty is. The paint code on it is UA but from what I have read UA is just another kind of black paint.
The color on this car appears to be black especially when the sun is out of it's way, but when a little bit of light hits it you can see it looks like a dark maroon or purple.
I would like to see some opinions from you guys as well as info on this paint if it is UA or a custom job.

I'm not a paint expert by any means, but that looks like a metallic paint. Not something offered by Ford back then, I don't believe.
This is a 1995 Cobra, UA paint code:

That's not stock paint. Is it the same in the engine compartment or under the trunk carpet or under the weather stripping?

By the way, there's another forum for SN95s.

It's kinda hard to tell since the paint in the engine compartment and door jams is worn.
Kind of makes me want to go repaint her with a single stage black and call it a day but for now I will just do what rmodel65 suggests.
Thanks all

You can go to oriely auto parts if you have one near by that mixes paint and they'll put a machine on your car and can mix the paint for you I had this done with my 5.0 project as my bumpers needed touched up as well. It matched dang near perfect as I am extremely picky.

If you go to a custom paint shop, I'm sure they'd be able to match it. I hope you don't repaint it because that color really seems like it has potential! I'm anxious to see what you decided to do. You may have to spend some money to match the paint as it's probably not a default paint. But if you find a reputable paint shop, I'll be it ends up looking awesome!

As stated, that's not factory paint, UA is a high gloss black color (non metallic). When you mix paint, in normal circustances, if the car was UA then you would want UA paint mixed. Black isn't just "black" as far as paint goes. There are hundreds of minor tint variations in the mixture that can effect everything from the sheeme to the actual color. You also want it mixed to account for the fading of the car which is extremely hard to do.

My advice would be to respray the whole car. Yes it's expensive, but the color will line up and flow correctly. Remember, as I stated earlier your paint is faded, and painting a new section will obviously look different from the faded sections.
