Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a pretty nice '98 black (with white lower body pinstriping and mustang letter) mustang. But, the front bumper paint is cracking somewhat bad. It isn't noticeable until you get with 2 feet of the bumper, but it looks really bad up close. How much do you think it would cost to have it sanded, and repainted professionally? I might have some touching up done on the car too, but for the most part, it's freaking gorgeous. It looks kind of like someone tried to paint over it with paint can black paint if you look at the way it shines, but it isn't really noticeable to most people. Let me know what you think.

Yea the paint on my front bumper is chipping off as well so I have to get mine done when spring comes...luckily my brother works at a body/restoration shop so I'm gonna get it done for $100. But for you, if you take it to a good shop it's gonna cost you quite abit, I'm not sure on the actual prices anymore but if they have to do all the work like sanding, body filler/putty, priming, and painting it'll probably be around $500 I think; I could be wrong cause I havent checked on it in a long time but just to give u a ballpark. If you do all of the sanding and prime it, then take it down so all they have to do is paint the thing, it will be MUCH cheaper.

Depending on the shop it could be anywhere from $300-$800 my uncle owns a body shop and he painted my hood, front bumper, etc, he said he would have charged to $1,200 to paint the hood alone NO REALLY!! luckily I got it painted for free!! and to do the bumper was $600.... so go get some estimates, itll be a lot cheaper if you prep the bumper yourself tho, sand it down primer it if you get it all ready for paint it shouldnt be that much....

yea when i put my car in the ditch and had to get a new bumper my uncle charged me 1200 for the bumper painted. hood repainted. and 2 dents takin out so its expensive for a quality job

Yeah, I thought that may be about the price. I will probably prep it myself. But, until then, I'll probably get a black bra to cover up the nick in the hood and the bumper stuff. The rest of the car is gorgeous, though. You think that would look okay? The black bra, I mean.

To tell you the truth I wouldnt even worry about it cuz as soon as you get it painted itll just keep happening again and again. Only reason why I got mine painted was cuz my dumba$$ ex hit a garage wall and it left a wave in my bumper!! [:@], but yeah dont worry about knicks just use touch up paint or leave it alone because you cant prevent that from happening....
