Default Posi or Not?

I jacked up my rearend today to paint my drums and im trying to figure out if i have posi or not. If i spin one wheel and the other spins the other direction does this mean i have an open rear? If both spin the same way then it would mean it has posi, correct?

Most stock stangs do not have posi, usually have the famous 2.79 gears open diff.

No stock stang and most modified stangs will not have a posi....that is afterall a GM term.

Wheels spinning in opposite direction = open diff
Wheels spinning in same direction = positive locking diff of some sort usually a trac lok (Ford) but could be a detroit locker, true trak, mini spool, or anyother number of brand names/types.

for those of you with the trac lok ect... how does it change the feel of the drive? cornering, launches and stuff. heard they make things quite torquey..(yay!)

lets just say, after i burned the clutches in my 8.8 this past sunday, a lot. try going from crappy 2.0 60' times to 2.6's - 2.8's and boiling the right rear off.

when you try spinning the wheels jacked up make sure you have the car in gear so that the diveshaft doesn't turn.
Doesn't make a difference to the results above but it might baffle you when the other tire doesn't spin at all (because the driveshaft does)
