Default Issues Need Help

Last week it rained pretty heavy in my area, I hit a big puddle and my Check Engine light came on. Everytime I accelerate it hesistates before it goes. If I go up a hill it putters the whole way up unless I step on it. I put it on the diagonistic and it came up as the Evaparation Emissions Control Valve. But from what everyone said this would not make it run like it do. Any ideas, I need help![:

What year car is it? The diagnostic could just be showing the result, not the cause. Need more info.

Could have sucked some water up into the intake. Have you taken off air intake assembly to see what it looks like inside? MAF could have crud all over it. Just an idea of where to start.

It's a 98 GT auto. That's exactly where I started and MAF was good and so was the intake. I guess I will trace all my vacuum lines next and see it any are loose or cracked. Thanks for the reply
