Why is it that after posting a thread and then coming back
later to "search" for your own post, does the search function list
individually every one of your posts?

Meaning, if you posted 6 posts in one topic, it'll list ALL 6 posts
under the search function and then bolds all of them, only to
find you have not had a reply since your last post.

Is there a way to switch this so it's like every other automotive forum
search function?

Also, what's up with NOT being able to hit the BACK button on this forum?
Once who've spent more than a minute or two in a particular thread, you
can't just hit "back" on the browser to take you back where you were.

What's up with that too, it's a pain having to click on the forum topic and then
"find" where you left off each time.

 

not sure what you mean about the search function but the back button works for me.

I just searched by author, entered in my username and got a list of topics.
The list included some bolded posts, which I assume mean a new post in
that thread since my last post.
In the threads where I've posted more than one post (say three), the search
function lists all three posts on three different lines.
Then one or more of those post listings will be bolded.
I'm taking this to assume that the bolded posts means there has been a reply since
I posted that.

BUT, then why list the other posts (not bolded)?
In every other car forum I've ever gone too (dozens since 1999) it lists the
one thread just once, no matter how many posts you've made in that ONE thread.
AND, if there has been another post in that thread since your last post, it will bold
it.

As for the back function...I tried it again. I clicked on "$2K in mods" a thread I posted
and noticed a few new replies since yesterday. I read the new posts, then clicked the
back button on my browser to return to the "search" page that listed my posts I just
searched for only to have this forum NOT allow me to go back. I clicked the back button
once...nothing, tried again...nothing, tried double clicking the back button, nothing.

So in order to go back to my searched threads, I have to click on "search" again, retype
in my username and have the system search for my posts all over again.
This CAN'T be right???
Again, I only have to do that on this forum.

In my "My Forums" or "member" page is something not set up correctly?

humm very weird problem indeed and looks freakin' annoying too ...the bold thing is normal, kinda like of you log off than log back on, every recent thread will be bolded even if you've just read it, same thing happens with the search function wich i never did find annoying BUT if i had to go through search again everytime i clicked on a thread because i can't use the back button then yeah, that would be pissing me off ...maybe try PMing your problem to an admin or mod, i don't think it's an otption in your profile (as far as i know) but it's not normal, they might have a fix for you.

 

Thanks, I kinda figured there must be something up with the
way my "preferences" or "options" is set up on this board.
I've tried changing my preferences, but it still requires me
to search all over again once I've spent more than about
30 seconds in any one thread.

I'll try PMing a mod or admin.
Do you know of a username of one
of them I should contact?
