Default Why won't my Mustang stay running?

Alright, I recently got a '79 Mustang fromy my dad. It has a '90 5.0 V8 Engine in it. The car stayed in my dad's garage for a few months while we worked on a few things. During those few months it would start like a charm. The day that I went to pick it up and take it to my house my brother in law decided to pressure wash the engine. After the pressure washing the engine would still fire right off the bat, but then it quickly shuts off. It doesn't choke out or anything, it just fires and then there is nothing. After about a million tries it did finally stay running, but the next day I tried starting it again and started having the same problem. I'm extremly new at learning what makes an engine run, so I don't really know what to look for. Any ideas as to what the problem might be, or what I might be able to take a look at?

Have you tried to drive it? How long has it been since the washing? Open the distributor cap and look inside to see if it's wet. If so, then dry everything out. I would start there.

Before the washing it was driven quite a bit, but never for long periods of time. The one time we were able to get it running after the was we drove it across town, but the next day I still had the same problem. I'm sure it would fire and stay running again if I gave it another million tries, but the thing is way too loud and the neighbors get pissed. Anyways, thanks for the help I'll get a start on your suggestion.

I forgot to mention that it's now been about a week since the pressure wash. I removed the distributor cap and everything was bone dry. Any other simple things I might be able to check before having my dad look at it?

Well, the IAC was pretty gunky and is clean now, but we found out that that wasn't the problem. The problem had something to do with the ignition switch. Anyways, we got her starting up like normal and I was able to accidently paint some new black stripes in our neighborhood.
