Default Deal or no deal on 88

OK so heres the story with the car im getting. Its an 88GT 5.0 auto. a woman bought it for her husband brand new in 87 for his bday. Not to long ago she bought him a 06 explorer for his bday again. she said the car needs a door hindge because you have to pick the door up a little to close it, A multi-function switch which i heard is no big deal, an emergency brake cable, and needs minor body work. she said some rust but not rusted through plus a paint job. Her husband is a ford mechanic and rebuilt the whole engine. She said there is about 54000 on the rebuild and says it still starts and runs strong. im getting this for $500. What does everyone think of that? Good deal or not? It sounds really good to me but be honest and let me know. Thanks

Yeah, that's a good deal. Let me put it to you this way: I have an 88gt 5-spd, that needs some body work, has more miles then i care to count, decent interior, runs strong, but i wouldn't part with it for less then $1800 or so.
